Surrender

DSC02071
shirt: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Victoria's Secret), pants: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express), shoes: Old Navy

I have both a new skirt and a new dress that I've been really excited to wear, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to go through the hassle of tights and boots this morning. It's either extreme laziness or maybe I've just surrender to Mother Nature! But really, I just want to get away with some bare legs again. Maybe I'll go through the tights/boots hassle tomorrow, but if not then jeggings and comfy tops until spring is truly here!

Remix

third thurs

I'm linking up today with Bri for Third Thursday Threads by remixing a piece, and I'm going with a plain tee.  I'm breaking the rules a little bit by not making it the same tee, but I wore a leather jacket today so I think you're allowed to be a little badass when you do that, right? :) Plain tees are items you will always find in my closet and I always have at least one each in black, gray, and white. My recent favorites have been from Old Navy and from Target. They're perfect for layering with a cardigan or blazer, or even to pair with a maxi skirt for those days that you don't want to completely sacrifice style for comfort!

Warby Parker

warby parker

Despite the message mother nature has been sending us, warmer weather and sunshine will be back! So when Warby Parker contacted me about helping them announce their new sunglasses in the Spectrum Sun Collection, I was excited for the nice little reminder that soon I can come out of hibernation. :) Although I love that there's some fun color options like cherry blossom and eucalyptus, my favorites in the new collection are the Hall in whiskey tortoise, and the Piper in both revolver black and woodland tortoise. So classic! As a long-time glasses wearer and someone who has embraced (finally!) the idea that a great pair of frames can reflect your personality, I love that you can order any of Warby Parker's sunglasses with prescription lenses. I purchased prescription sunglasses a few years ago and it was money well spent - no more putting in irritating contacts for the day just because I wanted to wear some cute, cheaply made sunglasses! With Warby Parker's stylish frames and reasonable prices, there's a strong possibility I'll be adding another quality pair to my collection at some point soon.

Check out not only the new collection, but all options available for eyeglasses and sunglasses. You read my selfish reasons for liking the brand above, but for every pair of glasses sold, Warby Parker ensures that someone in need receives a pair too through their partnerships with various non-profits. That's pretty cool too, don't you think?!

*Warby Parker contacted me about helping announce this collections' launch, but I received no compensation for this post and all opinions are my own!

Olive

DSC02056
blouse: Buffalo Exchange, sweater & boots: Target, jeans: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express brand)

I didn't mean to be M.I.A. for a whole week, but work got busy like it always does this time of year and I've been tired! But today I wanted to be able to link up with Andi, Ashley, and Heather for the start of their green week for St. Patrick's Day. I don't own a lot of kelly green and I had just bought this really comfortable sweater, so I went with olive green instead, paired with a little leopard print and my new favorite boots. It's also jeans week at work if you donate $10 to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, so I'm excited to switch it up with denim all week!

Navy + Maroon

DSC02043
tee: H&M, sweater: Old Navy, scarf: gift, pants: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Limited brand), shoes: Target

This is an outfit from a day last week that I liked my outfit well enough to photograph it, but was too tired to think of anything intelligent enough to say about it. Whether or not I have anything to say about the outfit now may may be questionable, but at least I have the energy to put a post together. :) For $10, these pants were a great investment. Black is typically my go-to, especially in the winter, but after buying this really comfortable layering tee from H&M and then discovering this scarf that brothers' girlfriend gave me for Christmas, navy and maroon were the way to go. This sweater is undeniably another cozy favorite, but these heels are a comfortable option that I can always count on to make a look feel more professional!

Content

DSC02050
scarf: Old Navy, sweater: gift (from Gap), tee/boots: Target, jeans: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express brand)

I'm feeling content. The type of content that comes from a really good weekend that leaves you feeling ready to tackle another work week. As much as I'm a lover of my couch and my sweatpants, the sunshine and milder temperatures this weekend were the perfect motivation for getting myself up and moving. I did some shopping by myself this weekend, with no time schedule to stick to, and for me that's the best (these boots were my favorite find by the way)! I've had to reign it in a little bit for the sake of being financially responsible, but that's my favorite way to get that alone time that leaves me feeling recharged. Going on a 5 mile solo run this morning really helped too - such a great way to clear the head! We're closing out the weekend by grabbing dinner with friends we haven't hung out with for a few weeks and I'm looking forward to catching up on life lately with the group. Then you know, back home to my sweatpants and my couch for a little bit because that's pretty great too. :)

Are you sick of this scarf yet? I hope not, because clearly I'm not...

Comfort

DSC02040
tee: H&M, sweater: Walmart, pants: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express brand), shoes: Target, necklace: thrifted

I don't really think this is the most stylish of outfits, but this sweater was cheap and it's cozy so it's got that going for it. Truthfully I think I'd be happy wearing something similar to this every day - one of my favorite pair of black pants, a loose fitting tee, and a sweater like this one. Maybe now the weather is finally about to warm up a little bit I'll feel a little more inspired!

February Budget

photo (46)

February was apparently the month of buying pants, and apparently also the month of continuing my obsession with Discount Fashion Warehouse apparently! I'm sure we all are sick of it, but I am sick of winter and wearing pants. Although I haven't given up on them completely, I miss dresses and skirts! They're so much more of a hassle when tights and boots always have to be involved. I am happy with every single one of my February purchases though and think they'll be items that I can really regularly wear, even as the seasons change (which they better do eventually!).
