sorry for the tilted camera...oops! |
tee: Target, vest: Forever 21, scarf: Old Navy, jeans: thrifted, shoes: Kohl's |
You guys, I totally stole this look from Jessica Alba that was pictured in People Style Watch. Can you blame me?! |
This shopping ban has made me think what things items would truly be a good addition to my closet, rather than just buying whatever catches my eye in the store. I started a list in my phone and here's what it looks like:
- slouchy black tee
- slouchy white tee (is slouchy really a word??)
- colorful belts from Forever 21
- some fun silver bracelets (my husband got me a silver watch for our anniversary and I'm realizing most of my every day bracelets are gold!)
- another maxi skirt or dress
The black tee was added to the list this morning after searching for what felt like forever for one, to find only this old one that really needs to be retired to workout wear. I have a hunch that doing some laundry will likely lead to finding a few more and maybe I'll take it off the list. :) Either way, I'm happy to say that none of those items should set me back much, but I'll have to promise not to run out and buy them all at once.
Linking up...
I totally agree - I'm starting to get to the point in my ban where I don't really want to randomly buy whatever I see that looks good, I really want to have a specific list of what I need and will use! I've actually been writing them down in a little notebook I always have so I can reevaluate whether I need them when I decide to spend money again. So far on my list are (1) navy blazer, (2) white silk shirt (but I think I may have something I can get away with for awhile), and (3) sleeveless blouse. I'm so glad we randomly decided to do this at the same time - I look forward to your updates every week :) And ps - slouchy is totally a word (one of the best ones in my opinion).
ReplyDelete*a little notebook I always have with me (sorry, realized that sentence barely made sense... long day!)
DeleteI know how that goes! :) I'm so glad that we're doing our shopping bans at the same time too! It really was great to read your post where you put everything out there. I had a hard time being honest with myself about what I was spending and what I can afford.
DeleteYour list sounds like some classic pieces that you'll get so much use out of! I got lucky and found a great navy blazer at a thrift store and it's perfect in cooler weather.
Making a list is a smart idea. I tend to get carried away, especially when it comes to thrifting. I have trouble passing up a good deal! I like your outfit. I have a denim vest (recently thrifted) and I didn't know what to wear it with. I may have to steal, I mean borrow, your look :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I really did realize that I got to a point where I wasn't really telling myself no as much as I should. I can't wait to see your version of the outfit! I don't think I would've put the pieces together myself, but when I saw that picture of Jessica Alba, I loved it!
DeleteI do the same thing with making a list. It really helps me to buy only the things I need rather than just make impulsive purchases. I don't actually own a black tee! (I do have a bunch of black tanks though).

What?! I can't imagine what I would do without my black tees! haha
DeleteI like your take on this outfit!! Especially the pink pants. Making a list is a very smart idea, I do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I want a denim vest, I'm seeing them everywhere all of a sudden!
Thanks Beth! I keep seeing them everywhere too! I've had this one for probably 4 or 5 years now. I've put it in the donation pile, then saved it at the last minute a few times!
DeleteLove the outfit! Those jeans are great and I love them with the scarf and vest!
ReplyDeleteThanks you!! I can't get enough of colored denim and keep wanting to wear scarves enough though it's summer!
Deleteoooh nice!! Love the casual but trendy look...I have a vest! Thanks for reminding me and inspiring me to go and get it!!! Thanks for linking up!!!
