Last night, when I remembered that it was EBEW time again I thought so hard about what I could color block. Seriously, I fell asleep picturing outfit combinations! When I woke up, I still hadn’t thought of anything so I threw on a non-color blocked outfit and added my trusty old yellow wedges. Right before I headed downstairs and out the door, I had an epiphany…teal skirt with my navy blue tee! I have to admit, it’s possibly the only color blocking I’ve tried. I decided to keep the yellow shoes for color overload, but let me tell you about the dilemma I had first…
I’m a Buckeye, born and raised. Going to Ohio State was the only major life decision that I didn’t seek guidance from my parents about. I just knew. One of the things about being a typical Buckeye fan is that you really can’t stand the University of Michigan. I’m sure it’s a fabulous school and maybe even in a fun city to live in, but you just don’t like that school in that state up north!
Getting back to my dilemma, when I looked down at my final outfit choice for the day, I realized that my shirt and my shoes are U of M’s school colors. Ew. I’m not kidding; that thought stopped me in my tracks. I don’t think I’ve ever mixed these two colors together, but I finally decided that the teal skirt broke up the colors enough. Does anyone else have crazy aversions to color combinations for reasons that make no sense at all, or am I all on my own here?! :)
I love your color blocking outfit! I think all these colors look fantastic together. Love the yellow shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sylvia! I think I need to give color blocking a try more often. :)
DeleteI love it! I love the skirt and those fun shoes. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! :)
DeleteI think this outfit is great! I totally do the same thing with certain color combinations. I didn't wear purple for years because of Kansas State. Now I am nervous about wearing red because I live in Nebraska and everyone wears red ALL. THE. TIME! I'm a Husker fan, I just hate matching everyone else!
ReplyDeleteI went to Kansas State for grad school (just online though), and I have to admit that I loved buying their apparel mostly because of their colors. (ok, that and my addiction to sports team related clothing...haha)
DeleteI love the color combination. I think it's because we end up over thinking things that if we just let the outfit happen, then it'll actually happen. Haha. :) My school's rivals' colors are maroon and white, and I don't really like maroon, so it's a good thing that I haven't ran into that problem. Anyway, back to the look, I adore the skirt and great addition of the yellow shoes. :)

Thanks Trinnah! I think you're right about over thinking things - I need to just go with the initial idea more often!
DeleteROFL about the school color combo! I totally dressed in my old high school colors yesterday without meaning to. I think that color blocking and school colors kind of go hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteOh well, I like your color combination even if you did end up looking like a walking Michigan fan! :)
You're right Beth - color blocking does go hand in hand with school colors. I'll have to remember that for football season this fall. I have the perfect gray jeggings to pair with some scarlet. Go Bucks! :)
DeleteI've had dreams about outfits before, haha! I love the three bold colors in your outfit, so fun!

ReplyDeleteThank you! They're definitely one of my favorite finds!!
DeleteWhat a great color combination! My college's colors weren't nearly so fabulous (black and yellow - we were hornets).

DeleteWhat a fabulous skirt. The local high school colors are green and yellow. I didn't go to high school here, so I don't have the association, but I've had comments before when I've worn the color combo.
ReplyDeleteI have the same skirt in pink too...so comfortable and both were great deals at Target!
DeleteAs a UW Graduate, I'm supposed to hate you. But I like your outfit too much, so I'll just agree to both hate Michigan ;)
ReplyDeletehaha, I will definitely show your Badgers some love long before the Wolverines. ;) How fun to have another Big 10 grad stop by my blog!
DeleteThis is lovely. Great colour combination!
