Sunday Social

Today has been a no make-up, sweatpants and tee kind of day.  I at least managed to put on jeans and a hoodie to do my grocery shopping earlier today, but since I doubt any of you care to see photo documentation of that outfit, I decided to join in on The Sunday Social over at Ashley's blog instead! :) Check it out to learn a little bit about some other bloggers!

Sunday Social

1. What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?
Having children.  Truthfully there are some days that I think I never want to have children. A lot of days actually. Even though I'm 28, I don't feel anywhere near ready and I love the time I get with my husband and the time I get to myself way too much to bring a baby into the picture, but I'm hoping we someday get to the point where it's something we want. When the topic crosses my mind though, the thought terrifies me - being pregnant, giving birth, and the responsibility! I guess just being Aunt Jess for a good while longer is what I'll stick with. Tons of fun with the niece and nephew I'm lucky enough to have and much less scary! :)

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Good question! A month ago I started my job as an academic advisor and I couldn't be happier! I've had my eyes set on working in higher education for the past few years, so it feels good to be where I feel I belong professionally. In 5 years, I better be in the same field of work, but I'm excited to see how the experience will unfold! On the personal end of things, I plan to still be happily married, hopefully with a lot more fun adventures together! Who knows, maybe by then we'll be ready to finally decide where we stand on that whole baby thing. :)

3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2012?
I always look forward to the holidays! We're able to see both our families and I love spending time with them. The amazing food doesn't hurt either! I'm also really excited to run my first marathon next month! I already got incredibly emotional after finishing my 20 mile run, so I've already warned my husband that I'll be a blubbering mess when I actually finish the race...haha. It's something I'm going to be incredibly proud of though and hope to accomplish more than once!

4. What are your hopes for your blog?
I've never been the most creative person, (I recently took an assessment at work that confirmed that creativity can be a challenge for me. The results were super interesting and explained a lot of personal strengths too!) so I feel like this blog helps me grow and develop those skills. It's always challenged me to develop my own personal style even more. I hope it always continues to do that while also continuing to give me the opportunity to meet other bloggers with the same interests!

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
I do! All of our immediate family is within 2 1/2 hours of our house, and I love that. Columbus, Ohio is a great city to live in. I love the conveniences of living in a city, while still having that relaxed mid-western feel. (at least it feels that way to me!) You can always find something to do!

6. What is your morning routine?
It depends on how ambitious I'm feeling!  I always check the news, facebook, instagram, and google reader from my phone to see what's going on before I crawl out of bed. I love to run in the morning, but have a hard time getting up early enough if my training plan calls for anything more than 4 miles for the day, which unfortunately is most days when training for a marathon! :) I shower, then before running out the door I grab something to eat and my coffee to have on the way to work.
