Nashville

This past weekend my husband and I headed down to Nashville with his sister and her husband. Originally we had all signed up for the half marathon, but my husband was the only one who had trained enough to still run the race we signed up for. My sister-in-law still ran the 5K though so we still got a little bit of a workout in at least! We spent the rest of the day hanging out on Broadway, hopping around from bar to bar and enjoying the gorgeous weather. I think we had a nice weekend in Columbus still, but heading 6 hours south made a huge difference in the temperature. It felt good to soak up that sunshine!

Denim Jacket

DSC02116
shirt: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Victoria's Secret), denim jacket: Old Navy, pants/shoes: Target, bracelet: souvenir from Jamaica

Denim jackets are a trend that I'm super excited is back! Back in college, during the week you would always find me in jeans and a kids size tshirt then either a hoodie or this jacket layered on top. So stylish, right?! :) While I'm no longer a big fan of the denim on denim look when there's a jacket involved (but denim on denim when it's a shirt doesn't bother me...weird), I won't hesitate to wear a denim jacket with anything that's not a pair of jeans.

Dealing with a Monday

DSC02115
tank: thrifted, sweater: Sam's Club, necklace: gift, pants and shoes: Target

While I don’t think there’s anything particularly exceptional about this outfit I wore yesterday, I really loved wearing it! These shoes just always make me feel like I’ve got it together and black ankle pants make me feel professional because of their color, but yet still stylish because of their fit. Add a comfortable tank, a pretty necklace, and a $10 Limited brand cardigan (Sam’s Club for the win again!) and it was just what I needed to deal with a Monday after thoroughly enjoying the nice weather and our open schedule for the entire weekend.

Refreshed

DSC02113
sweater: Target, tee & shoes: thrifted, scarf: Giant Eagle, pants: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express brand)
To be honest, the single thing I have to say about this outfit I wore last week is that I was really happy when I realized the pink polka dots in this scarf were the same color as this t-shirt I thrifted. It's the little things sometimes! Other than that, I just have to say that day-to-day life has been whooping me lately! I truly have just been hibernating, coming home from work so exhausted that I just kept curling up on the couch and didn't even have the energy to open the computer and think of anything even halfway intelligent to say. But there's something about how refreshing spring always is, and now that the weather is nicer my motivation to get up and get moving is slowly but surely returning...and that's refreshing. :)

Paloma

DSC02105
scarf: World Market, dress: thrifted, leggings: Walmart, boots: JCPenney

I'm sure everyone else who is experiencing snow in April is just as irritated as I am about it, but I'm taking the opportunity as a perfect excuse to wear this new sweatshirt dress and boots for what I hope is the last time this year! Plus this dress let's me join in on Heidi and Marissa's spring pantone link up since today's color is paloma - a shade of gray. My favorite! :)

Striped

DSC02083
tee: H&M, blazer: Target, pants: Discount Fashion Warehouse (Express brand), shoes: Old Navy

I know that striped blazers have been popular for awhile not and while I always liked them, I never came across one that I loved enough to buy and I’m not really one to go on the hunt for something specific too often. But when I came across this one while wandering around Target last Saturday night when I took my husband’s cousin out shopping, I couldn’t help but pick this one up since Target’s ponte blazers are an absolute favorite of mine. I think my work wardrobe has become a lot more relaxed lately, so blazers seem like an easy option for dressing up the jeggings I keep trying to pull off as work appropriate. It works, right? :)

March Total = $297.14
$471.43 spent out of $900 yearly budget = $428.57 remaining

Whoops. I know I switched to a yearly budget rather than a monthly budget, but if you've been following along lately you probably noticed that I am not on track to meet that at all. So far I'm ok with this though. I've noticed that my style preferences have changed just slightly enough that I was feeling like my wardrobe needed refreshed a little bit, and since we always get a bonus from work in March, I felt comfortable spending some money. So refresh I did I guess! Lots of new basics that can pull double duty by being appropriate work or weekend options. How did you do this month?!
