Like Pajamas

sweater: Old Navy, dress: thrifted, tights: Kohl's, boots: Clothes Mentor

I really wanted to roll out of bed and go to work in my pajamas today, but I think this dress, along with my sweater that looks like a robe is as close as I can get! Linking up again with Fran and Whitney to show the different ways we've styled dresses this time. Also, I have to admit - Kate's No Longer Neglected series inspired me to wear this sweater after at least a year of it sitting in a spare bedroom closet. Like I said, it was like wearing a robe, so I just couldn't help myself. :)

P.S. Yay for Thrifter Thursday being back! :)

Ankle Pants in the Winter

tank: Old Navy, sweater: Forever 21, pants: New York & Co., boots: JCPenney, necklace: gift

Fran and Whitney are doing a fun link up that involves taking an item and styling it 5 different ways, and todays’ item is pants! I feel like I’ve been in a huge rut, wearing my black dress pants constantly, and I’ve missed my mustard ankle pants. I only found 3 previously documented looks, so in order to style them a 4th way, I winterized them by tucking them into boots. I’m definitely irritated that it’s almost April and I’m still having to winterize something, but I’m probably more irritated that I didn’t think of this sooner!

An Unintentional Week Off

sweater, belt & leggings: Target, dress: Kohl's, scarf: Walmart, boots: Clothes Mentor

I really didn't mean to ignore this little blog of mine for the past week! I have to admit, work was non-stop for the past 3 weeks and I think it just finally caught up with me. My husband and I took Friday off of work to just relax and go to a local bar to hang out and watch basketball all afternoon. It's just what I needed, but after that 3 day weekend, I've had my fill of basketball. Well, at least until Thursday night when the Buckeyes play again. :) So today I finally did the whole dress as a skirt thing that I've seen so many people pull off so well. Kinda wishing I would've figured that trick out a long time ago - it's genius!

The Weekend

shirt: Old Navy, jeans and shoes: Target, scarf: Plato's Closet

Every time St. Patrick's Day rolls around, it makes me realize how few items I have in true green. That may be something I remember as I'm shopping because I do like the color! I hope everyone had a fun weekend. I spent half the day at work on Saturday, which really wasn't bad, then just didn't have the energy for much of anything else. Thankfully my husband felt the same way, and was just as happy as I was to ignore the to-do list we had created. Sunday we celebrated the "holiday" just the two of us -enjoying some beers and watching some basketball. Perfect way to end a weekend - I hope everyone else enjoyed theirs too!

Time for Me

shirt: Forever 21, skirt: Target, tights: Walmart, boots: JCPenney

I get to leave work at noon tomorrow and I'm incredibly excited about it. Unfortunately it's because it's my weekend to work half a day on Saturday, but still, I'm excited for half a day to myself. I can't decide whether I want to go thrifting on my way home, or if I want to grab a salad from my new favorite restaurant for lunch, or if I want to just come home and catch up on Vanderpump Rules because for some strange reason I cannot get enough of that show this week. Maybe I'll find a way to do all 3? Probably!

The Basics

sweater & pants: Target, tee: Five Below, shoes: Payless, necklace: flea market

Although I do like pairing black, white, and gray together pretty often, I think it's usually with some color incorporated even if it is just with shoes or accessories. Today I was apparently lacking some motivation and the result is that I'm really not crazy about this outfit. It's professional, but pretty boring. Oh well - you win some, you lose some. I'll just try again tomorrow. :)

Grateful

scarf: gift, leggings & blazer: Target, dress: thrifted, boots: Clothes Mentor

I'm going to get really sentimental for a minute and talk about how much I love my job. If you're new to my blog, or if you forgot because I don't think I write about it too much, I'm an Academic Advisor at a local university. Most of my students are "nontraditional" students - they're older than the 18-22 age range, many have full time jobs and family responsibilities.  Right now work is incredibly busy - registration for summer term opened up last week and so of course this week students are all trying to get enrolled into their courses, requesting education plans, and asking all kinds of questions about their degree program. But I love it, because to me there's nothing better than being a part of empowering a student, even if it  was just because I simply took the time to really make sure a student understood their degree requirements and showed an interest in the million other things that are happening in their life. So yeah, I love my job. And this outfit. :)

Linking up a day late again...oops!

Lessons to Learn

tee & cardigan: Old Navy, scarf: World Market, pants: New York & Co., shoes: Target

Apparently I can't hang anymore. We went back home to hang out with my in-laws on Saturday night and go to the wild game feed their friends put on every year. It's a great excuse to drink some beers, eat some strange food, and play games with the guys. Big left-right-center winner for the second year in a row right here! Thanks for the $162 guys... :) My husbands' grandma drove us all and even took us to the local bar for a drink afterwards. You guys, this woman is 82 years old, played a few rounds of flip cup with us (mostly with water though, but she is so good I will forevermore make sure I'm on her team!), and then took us to the bar until 1am. Best thing ever was how cute she was, dancing to her beloved George Straight in the middle of the bar. Truly, when I'm her age, I hope I'm even half as fun and lively as she is! Best part? I bet grandma feels great right now...and me? I'm exhausted and woke up fighting off a cold this morning. I guess I have a lot to learn!
